I love traditions. Every year when I was a kid, my Mom and I would go to the same parades and sit in the same spot. Now, for Troy residents, one of those traditions is ending.

A bunch of angry calls came into the show to the show this morning and I breathed a sigh of relief. Why you ask? I had a chance to address something on the air that had been bothering me the entire weekend.  How could some people be using their social media platforms to wish everyone "A Happy Memorial Day"?

May’s Hometown Hero story is a true must listen and it comes just in time for Memorial Day Weekend.  In the month that we honor and pay tribute to the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, we are so proud to award WGNA’s May Hometown Hero to Russell Coonradt from Cohoes.

This weekend is the unofficial kick off to summer and I know we are all looking forward to it! How can we not be?! Lets just think back to a couple of months ago when we could barely get down the Northway because of piles of snow; or how about the last couple of months of ridiculous rain (last Thursday, anybody?!)

It seems as soon as there was potential for Uber and Lyft to be in the Capital Region, people couldn't stop talking about it, it was the only thing that would make the 518 perfect. Now, we're not going to have to wait as long as expected.

I'm not a huge fan of buying fireworks. I don't have anything against them and I've been to parties where friends of mine have gotten them but I've personally never gotten them myself. As a Schenectady resident, guess I'm now really not going to be able to buy them.

Troy is now doing even more to support the veterans who fought for our freedoms. A Troy Military Banner kickoff program was on Sunday and since then, you're going to see something different lining the streets.

We are a patriotic country and should be. We in America have a proud history of freedom and democracy, but that history is also filled with men and women who sacrificed so much for an ideal. Today is the day that we think about and reflect upon those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, they "gave all".
