I'm trying to spread my wings a little bit. My school program has always been for elementary students and that will continue. But I'd like to try an experiment
I think I'm in trouble. An elementary school teacher from the Yates Magnet School in Schenectady is very perturbed over an Anti Common Core song I wrote awhile back. I will replay that one here and then Rachel Rourke's response (with the help of her students!)
Did you hear that there's been a change to the Webster's Dictionary? If you look up the word "dedication", you now see a photo of this Bethlehem Children's School educator-extroardinaire, Brittany Pardi.
It's happening in over 20 states, and New York is one of them. If you work in the business office of a local school, you might want to pay close attention to this story. It could cost your district money!
We were very proud to mention that someone from our area won NYS Teacher Of The Year. His name is Charlie Giglio, a Latin teacher from Gloversville High School. Of course, I thought his name was pronounced differently, so I went with the most obvious song for this wonderful educator.
We're coming up on ALMOST 20 years of doing this program, and it has to rank as the most rewarding thing I've ever done (besides morning radio, of course). You too can be a part of this experience.
The Lunch, Learn and Play program is a summer camp located in beautiful Salem, New York. I had the pleasure of taking a trip up there for the Reading, Writing and Rhyming Tour, and I certainly wasn't disappointed by the outcome!
This is the time that the Hillside Summer Camp in Niskayuna reserved for "Mismatch Day", where happy campers adorn themselves with- you guessed it- clothes that don't go together. (Wow, a group after my own heart!)
I was at the Bethlehem YMCA for the Reading, Writing and Rhyming Tour, brought to you by….(insert sponsor's name here - we don't have one right now -hint hint) . Anyway, this was a great chance to meet a bunch of real "Champs"
All year I've been writing songs with kids. I've loved every minute of it. However, I wanted to do something special for the great teachers that I've met along the way, so here' s a little ditty for you folks too!
This was a thrill to do - I got to perform a song right inside the Legislative Office Building at the NYS Capitol. I hope that it helped the cause in some way
