As I write this, I find myself both sad and truly worried. WGNA'S Shop With A Cop, a concept we announced a week ago is not doing as well as I had hoped. While everyone has told me what an incredible concept it is, and how much good we can do for some deserving children who need a little Christmas and a good experience with police officers, the actual donations that we so desperately need are slow

It's amazing to see people all over this area who do things and get such little recognition from the media.  Well, we're about to change that.  Meet Brandon Smith. I had the chance to meet him on this edition of Capital Region Sunday.

I guess I'm not a nice enough person.  I try to give whenever I can to the Police Benevolent Assn and other charities.   We try to do our part, but I guess not enough when you consider what some people do, including a well known New York politician.

Adults beware!  We are being put to shame by kids who are 10 times better at creative thinking, marketing and hard work than we'll ever be.  Case in point: Jeremy Wernick, a  student at Shaker Junior High who is doing incredible things for childhood cancer.  You have to hear him explain it in his own words.

My friends at Trustco Bank are continuing a great project they have started to renovate local parks. You may remember I wrote about what a great job they did at Quackenbush Park last year. This time around it's Woodlawn Park that gets their attention and at 1 p.m. today they make the reveal.

Unreal. We're 24 days away from Black Friday and already getting stories like this one- there's a guy who's trying to break the record for the longest Black Friday campout. Say what?!?

I know, I know.  I already did a blog about this kid and this club.  I don't care.  I'm giving this group 2 promotional mentions because they have done so much for the community and continue to do so.  Plus it's run completely by kids.  It's the Saratoga County Kids Care Club!

Maybe there will come a day where we don't have to promote another benefit for someone with cancer because will have cured this wretched illness once and for all.  In the meantime, however, this family could certainly use everyone's help

We have a great friend here at the radio ranch.  Her name is Margaret Evon-Laier.  We call her DMV Margaret, actually.  Well, when "DMV" has a favor to ask, we jump to it.  And this is a great event in honor of someone very special in her life.
