In the wake of the Sugarland stage collapse in Indiana, the duo made some comments after the CMA Awards that led to rumors of the duo splitting up.

After their fifth win as the CMA's Vocal Duo of the Year, Jennifer Nettles made the following statement to the press: “We are taking a few months just to chill and relax and sleep in our own beds and contemplate how we want to approach what’s next."  Nettles also made some comments that made fans wonder what was happening with the duo's future during an interview with Robin Roberts on ABC. When the discussion turned to Jennifer making music on her own, she said: “A solo record? Yes. I would love it if I did it. I would love it if he did it. I don’t have a recording date on the books as of yet. But yeah, it’s absolutely it’s something that I would love to do."  With rumors of solo careers fueled behind the scenes, it was later leaked that Kristian Bush was also entertaining a solo offer from Mercury Records, which has yet to be announced.

Through all the news reports and music industry chatter, Jennifer and Kristian have insisted that although they may work on solo projects, the duo is not splitting up.  Now, to confirm that the powerhouse pair is staying together, they have announced their 2012 tour with Lauren Alaina and Canaan Smith.
