Actually, coming from a very conservative person like yours truly, you might be surprised at my opinion on this sparkler issue.  But then again, who cares about my point of view?  I want to hear yours!

First, the facts.  According to the TroyRecord.com, Rensselaer County is now allowing the sale and usage of sparklers and a few other devices that were once banned.

Albany County is next to vote on the issue, and Schenectady will do the same.  Both will take place in May.

OK, here's my two cents.  These things have been illegal for years and years, but somehow -magically- everybody's kids (some very little like in the photo above) seem to possess them, drawing their imaginary names in the sky on the 4th of July.  It's been going on since I was a kid, and I don't want to tell you how long ago that was.

You might as well legalize them and strictly control how they are used.  It's time. How can you enjoy that holiday without them?

Wow - I can't believe I'm saying this, because I don't believe this should be the response for EVERY rule we have.  It would be a very chaotic world if we all practiced group disobedience.  But I will break from my normal pigheaded opinion.

Ok.  I'll stop blabbing.  How do YOU feel?  Would love your opinions on this.  I hope it "sparks" some debate..
