Old useless technology is worth something to someone, and people actually collect this garbage. I had one of the first Sony Betamax machines in my neighborhood when they were all the rage.I actually had the Hi Fi Model HF 100 which was the Cadillac of Betamax players/recorders and almost fell over when I saw that people are paying up to $490 for them at auctions if they are in good working order. That's good money for something that I don't use anymore, but when I bought the unit brand new it cost me $1,700 at Sears in Aviation Mall! That old plain Jane VCR you have collecting dust could fetch you some good money too if it still works, and the videotapes are hot items too.

Your trash may be someone else's treasure. Take a day and start picking through it.
