WUSTROW, GERMANY – MARCH 12: Visitors walk along the beach next to the Baltic Sea near the “house on the dyke”, owned by the family of Joachim Gauck, on March 12, 2012 at Wustrow, Germany. Joachim Gauck, who will likely be elected by Germany´s Federal Assembly on March 18 as the next German President, lived in Wustrow until he was five and still spends vacations there. Gauck grew up in and around nearby Rostock, studied theology and became a Lutheran pastor before becoming one of the major figures in the East German pro-democracy movement that led the revolution against the communist regime in 1989. Gauck will succeed Christian Wulff as German President following Wulff´s resignation last February. (Photo by Carsten Koall/Getty Images)
