It seems that there are some people who live in the Ballston Spa area who don’t want a brand new Walmart Supercenter to be built.

Back in April, I had a story about plans to construct a Walmart at the intersection of Route 50 and Route 67. In the story from CBS 6 Albany, some of the residents do like the idea because it will provide jobs, while others are against it.

Some of the owners of small businesses in Ballston Spa are worried that instead of having people who are driving through town, stopping and getting something to eat, shop and visit the businesses, they’ll just got to the new store, get what they need and leave, not even go into town to support the local businesses. There is also some concern of an increase in traffic to the area. It could become too busy.

If the town planning board gives a thumbs up and approves construction, everything could start later this year. The store could also open its doors at the end of the year.
