Some of music's biggest names graced it's stage over the years, which makes this footage crazy to watch!

Johnny Cash. George Carlin. The list of legendary performer's at Latham's now demolished Starlite Music Theater, aka 'The Tent,' goes on and on. Which makes the footage below mind-blowing. I mean, how does a venue with such a history end up gone? Luckily this footage was taken before it was knocked down. Check it out:

One of the cool things about moving to a new area is learning about it's history, especially it's music history. So I find this especially interesting. This is new to me but maybe old news to you. But according to nippertown.com the Starlite's last season was in 1997. So this building has been dormant for almost 20 years! It launched as the 'Colonial Music Theater' in 1958 and had various incarnations over the years. Some other country legends to perform at the venue include Alabama, Merle Haggard and Vince Gill. Wowza! Quite a history.

At first glance, it's a shame this venue no longer exists. I can imagine this was a pretty cool place to watch a show. In the round, small venue and it is right in our backyard in Latham.
