School Year Will Get Longer For Some New York Students

America has been slipping in education and getting jumped by many other other countries that we used to clobber in testing and plain old "smarts" as my mom used to call it. I guess we're getting sick of it, which is a good thing. In an new program 40 schools in New York and 4 other states will increase the school year by 300 additional hours of in classroom time which would extend the school year by over a month. Bottom line, kids get lazy mentally when they have time off and America can't take chances with the future and we need the best and brightest ready to lead us into the next generation. It is starting as a test program, but if it accomplishes better grades and test scores in the schools that take part I see no reason that it won't become the new lay of the land.
