I can't imagine who in the school ever thought this would be an okay thing to do. The reasoning behind it is idiotic, the fact that they didn't think they'd get sued is just plain stupid and they did it anyway.

7 year old Tru Robinson is a beautiful biracial little girl who has a head of beautiful curls, at least she used to. School officials deemed her hair to be unhygienic so they shaved it. She didn't have lice, it's not like it was too oily, or smelt terrible, but they shaved it anyway. The worst part is the school did so without asking permission of her mother first.

Distractify quoted the mother saying "I am very upset. And I’m not going to stop being upset, because I feel like my child was assaulted and violated." They will be suing the school.

According to Robinson's lawyer, volunteers who shaved her hair were heard making racially charged remarks allegedly saying that they were helping her by allowing her hair the chance to grow back in straight. In response to the allegations, the school released the statement:

"Decisions regarding grooming are based on a variety of factors, including hygiene. We cannot provide any information about any individual served by the program under federal and state law.  'A review of the circumstances is underway to determine what occurred and, if necessary, appropriate action will be taken."

UPDATE: TurtleBoy Sports has since posted an article with the other side of the argument.
