The Texas shooting tragedy has hit close to home as news spread on Tuesday that a local woman was among those shot in the Sutherland Springs, Texas church on Sunday.  A stark reminder of how life can change in a instant, and no place is sacred.

CBS 6 Albany reports that Margie MacKenzie of Saratoga Springs was shot in the back of the leg during the Sunday church massacre that left 26 dead and many wounded when a crazed gunman opened fire inside the place of worship. Margie was shot but survived. Her niece, 33-year-old Tara McNulty, died from the barrage of gunshots.

Margie, who will be making her way back to the Capital Region in due time,  was visiting her cousin Tara in Texas.  Tara McNulty's two children did survive the attacks.

News 10 ABC spoke to a neighbor of Margie "She's such a sweet delight. Everybody in the building loves her. She is such a good person. I feel sad that she went all the way to Texas and had to witness that trauma," noted Deborah Stewart, who lives in the same Saratoga Springs apartment building as MacKenzie.
