We give a proper send off to officers who serve our community. We should also say a heartfelt goodbye to animals who serve on our police force as well.

According to the Times Union, today it was announced that we must say goodbye to Jupiter, a police horse in Saratoga. Jupiter retires at 23 years old and 18 years of service for the police force.

Jupiter actually will be retiring from his second job as he was a harness racer before that. In a strange turn of events Jupiter was able to have another career despite several horses in his situation are often shipped to Canada or Mexico for a not so pleasant experience.

You've probably seen Jupiter around town at different events in Saratoga. In fact, it's probably pretty hard to miss him.

Thanks Jupiter for your service and we are glad you decided to work hard for the Capital Region.
