The Capital Region has made it onto a list of the healthiest counties in New York State.  More specifically, Saratoga County holds high honors coming in second place yet again, according to annual rankings. Putnam County was the top ranked county in the state.

The placings were published by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.  A full list of this year's rankings can be found at Health Rankings.  This list includes national benchmarks so you can see how your county ranks next to the rest of the nation.  You can also see what attributes the researchers looked at to calculate the placements.

As for some of the counties here in the Capital Region, Albany County ranked 27th; Rensselaer County was 39th; and Schenectady County was 34th.
