Sam Hunt is the 2016 ACCA Breakthrough Male Artist of the Year. The "Make You Miss Me" singer accepted the award from Jennifer Nettles and actor Terry Crews moments after singing the new single from Montevallo.

Hunt performed "Make You Miss Me" from behind a piano, a contrast to his typically high energy performances. His band joined him onstage, but it was the confident Hunt that everyone focused their eyes on. Crews and Nettles brought him two trophies, sharing that the "newcomer" had also won Digital Album of the Year.

The humble Hunt thanked his collaborators in a short acceptance speech. It was a busy weekend for the "Take Your Time" singer, as also previously played the Stagecoach Festival and iHeartRadio Country Festival. This was Hunt's first ACCAs.

The Fox broadcast was a performance-heavy telecast, live from Los Angeles on May 1. Hunt was nominated in five categories, behind only Luke Bryan who was up for seven. Chris Janson and Michael Ray were the other two nominated in this category. Janson performed "Buy Me a Boat" moments earlier, while Ray introduced a performance.
