This class thought I was crazy.  I asked Mrs. Nugent's class at Saddlewood Elementary in Colonie if  if they thought they could create and record an anti-bullying song in an hour or less.  I got varied responses at first.  But like every class I've ever worked with, they succeeded, and it was AWESOME

These guys and gals not only could brainstorm, write and sing extremely well, but they had a really great spirit to boot. Yes, we had some laughs as you will hear later, but I can assure you that the message in the song was not lost, and I can prove it!  First, let's here their creation, and then following that you will hear my EXCLUSIVE interview with Mrs. Nugent's new "American Idols" to see how effective it was!

Ok, and now let's listen to some of the kids and their unrehearsed comments!

I had such a good time with this group, and I want to thank two fantastic sponsors of this program:  Hannaford Supermarkets and Capital Communications Federal Credit Union (CapComm).  Without their help, I wouldn't be able to go from school to school and help spread this message during the upcoming  Anti Bullying Awareness Month.

If you would like more information about what you can do to prevent bullying in your community, you can log onto a special website from the Academy For Character Education at Russell Sage College.  I've been working with Dr. Phil Fusco as well as Mayor John Mcdonald of Cohoes and  Rennselaer County Executive Kathy Jimino's office to spread the word about this growing problem in our area.  Thanks for their great work as well .
