The Rexford Bridge construction project starts today!

The $33 million project to replace the Rexford Bridge, which spans over the Mohawk River between Clifton Park and Niskayuna, started today. Construction crews will begin with the addition of a new round about!  They will be constructed at the intersection of Aqueduct Road and Rt. 146 in Niskayuna.  The intersection of Riverview Road and Rt. 146 in Rexford will also undergo improvements, opening the road up to additional lanes of traffic.

According to a press release by Governor Cuomo:

In addition to the new bridge, which will carry four lanes of traffic over the Mohawk River, a multi-use path will be built between Riverview Road in Rexford and the Mohawk-Hudson Bike-Hike Trail in Niskayuna. Route 146 between the new roundabout and Riverview Road in Rexford will be reconstructed as a four-lane roadway.  The state expects the project to be complete in late 2017.

The bridge will be open during construction, but plan ahead in case of construction delays!
