Restore NY Will Bring Millions To The Capital Region

There are beautiful, historic buildings and neighborhoods throughout the Capital Region. Now the Governor has secured millions to restore and rebuild them in many of our cities and towns. Governor Cuomo announced that he has earmarked millions of dollars to help restore and rebuild many historic neighborhoods and buildings in our area. The project receiving the most funding is Universal Preservation Hall in Saratoga Springs.

The project will create over one hundred local jobs and turn the nineteenth century High Victorian Gothic church to a state-of-the-art performance facility that will be a part of Proctors. The space is perfect for musical performances. It will feature a performance space on the second floor that can seat about eight hundred people. They will build the stage in the middle so that everyone has a good seat. There will also be a community event space and offices.

According to the Saratogian, other projects include $1.8 million to help North Pearl Street and a new home for the Capital Repertory Theatre in Albany, plus hundreds of thousands of dollars for renovations in Colonie, Cohoes, Troy, Schenectady, Catskill, Glens Falls, and Schodack.
