Today the Rensselaer Professional Firefighters Association posted a press release on their Facebook Page asking the public for support. In their press release the Firefighters expressed that they did not feel that the city of Rensselaer has been negotiating with them in good faith and have been serving the community for 2 and a half years without an agreement. Tonight they would like the community to show support as they take a stand on the issue at the city's Common Council meeting.

They have even posted a copy of the press release on their Facebook Page and posted:

"Who do you call in your time of need? We are always there for you in a few minutes. Now we are looking for your support. We hope to see you all tonight at city hall, to show your support for the RPFFA. Please share!"

In the release they argue that while their request have fallen on "deaf ears" over the last couple of years the city continue's to hire new people for newly created positions at higher salaries than the firefighters are paid.

They are hoping to see many other area firefighters and union officials and a good showing of public support at tonight's Common Council meeting and request that if you are a supporter of Firefighters , their families and the city of Rensselaer that you also attend. The meeting is tonight at 6:00 pm.
