May 31st, 1998 - I was 14 years old and still extremely frightened of thunderstorms let alone what was about to happen.

We live in an area that is thankfully not always devastated by the worst that mother nature can bring. Our biggest disasters usually include poor driving in the rain on the Northway, or Ichabod Crane schools closing because we have a dusting of snow. But, back in 1998 the Capital Region experienced something much more frightening than a blizzard. The sky turned green, witnesses say it sounded like a freight train riding through and the damage it left was unforgettable.
