1952- Hank Thompson is at No. 1 in Billboard with 'The Wild Side Of Life.'

Birthdays

Mother Maybelle Carter, 1909. Along with her cousin, Sara, and Sara's husband, A.P. Carter, they form the Carter Family.  The Family is considered to be one of the first commercial recording successes in Country Music. Maybelle's daughter, June Carter, continued the Family Tradition.  Mother Carter dies at 69 in 1978.
