But there is a way that you can help, and you won't even have to leave you home.

This Saturday will be your chance to help ‘stamp out hunger’ in your community. Letter carriers around the Albany area and all over the nation will be collecting canned goods and non-perishable items from your mail box.

According to a press release from the United States Postal Service and the National Association Of Letter Carriers, Saturday, May 9 will be the 22nd annual food drive by the NALC. When they did this last year, they collected more than one million pounds of food items were collected from all over the Albany district in just one day.

On Saturday, they are hoping to collect even more food items than last year. All that you need to do is to leave your donations of canned goods and non-perishable items in your mailbox. You may also leave you donation at your local post office, on Saturday. The letter carriers will then take the donations and deliver them to local food pantry.
