The owner is being labeled a hero online, which is probably not what you'd expect when you hear that an animal was abandoned. But, in this case it does seem to make sense.

See, this little 3-month old chihuahua mix, named Chewy was left in the McCarren International Airport in Las Vegas with a note attached. In the point-of-view of Chewy, the note explains that his owner was in an abusive relationship and couldn't afford to take him on the flight but knew it wasn't safe to leave him. The boyfriend in this story had already kicked him once and he had a knot on his little noggin. The note even states that this little guy probably "needs a vet."

Chewy was brought to Connor and Millie's Dog Rescue and they've been posting about his on their social media while he's been covered on news outlets across the country.

Instead of the internet bashing the woman that left little Chewy behind, hundreds if not thousands have reached out to either adopt or help the owner be reunited with the puppy. I'll admit, the thought brings a tear to my eye. I love when people take the initiative to get out of a bad situation, I love animals and I truly love when people want to do good things for others. It really is heartwarming.

The owner has not gotten in contact with the dog rescue yet and they've stopped accepting applications to adopt Chewy because they've gotten so many, but you can still follow his journey via their Facebook page. Isn't he just the sweetest?
