There's a new movie coming out on June 8th called "Prometheus" that is kind of a prequel to the "Alien" series. "Prometheus" is directed by Ridley Scott who directed the original "Alien" movie back in 1979. So here's the deal. None of the characters from "Alien" are in the movie and as far as I know right now we do not see the Alien creatures we've come to know and HATE, but we do see the "Space Jockey".

The Space Jockey was the corpse of a giant alien creature that Sigourney Weaver and her crew discovered when they investigated a derelict spacecraft at the beginning of the movie.  It appeared to be in the ship's driver's seat.  It was basically just a prop.  We never found out anything about this thing in the movie. He also appears in the new trailer below. So there is a clear tie between the movies.

Prometheus is about a team of space explorers who discover a clue to the origins of mankind . . . and end up in a battle for the future of the human race.
