Almost everyone knows that President Obama will be in the Albany area to visit The College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering in Albany, to speak about the economy. It will put Albany in the national spotlight. But what most people aren’t sure about are road closures in the area.

Our friends at News 10 ABC are reminding us, that if you’re planning on traveling in the Washington Avenue, Fuller Road areas, also near Albany International Airport, you’ll need to find other routes.

From 12 noon until about 3:30 p.m. Washington Avenue Extension from the Exit 2 on ramp of Crossgates Mall will be closed. Interstate 90 in Albany between Exit 4 and the Exit 24 toll plaza will be shut down in both directions. Another road that will be closed will be Fuller Road from Great Dane Avenue to Railroad Avenue. There may also be some last minute road closures.

If you need to catch a flight between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., you might expect some delays because of the arrival and departure of Air Force One. If you want to snap some pictures or catch a glance of Air Force One at the airport, change your plans. All the regular public places to view airplanes will be closed.

If you need to be in these areas, you might want to plan alternate routes. Do you have any suggestions for drivers to use to get to their destinations?
