Poll: Only One Local HS School Ranks For Athletes

While I was surprised that more public high schools from Section 2 weren't included, it was quite an accomplishment for one school that is not only head and shoulders in the area, but number 2 in the entire state for athletes.

According to newyorkupstate.com Shaker High School is the only public high school in section 2 that can boast a high ranking in the state of New York and they came in 2nd overall. The website that grades public high schools is niche.com and has used its data to rank the 2018 Best High Schools for Athletes. The Pittsburgh-based website niche.com has produced a Best High Schools for Athletes in New York and another list for Best High Schools for Athletes nationally.

"Ranking (is) based on student and parent reviews of athletics, student participation in athletics, and the number of sports offered at the school," the site says. "Niche is a website that helps you discover the schools and neighborhoods that are right for you.
