This time, the phone scam warning is from the North Greenbush Police Department. For about a week, there have been several residents of North Greenbush receiving a phone call from someone threatening to sue them. The residents have been told that the person is an officer from the Internal Revenue Service.

In January, there was a phone scam where someone told the victims that they were from the Internal Revenue Service. That happened to several Rotterdam residents. In that scam, the victims were asked by someone saying that they were from the Internal Revenue Service and told to call a toll free number to get more information about their case. The current phone scam asks victims to provide personal information including their social security number, date of birth and their full name.

According to the story from WNYT, the North Greenbush Police Department have told people not to respond, and that this is a phone scam.
