Paul Gordon, a member of Jennifer Nettles' band, has died. The accomplished musician, who passed away on Thursday (Feb. 18) in Nashville, Tenn., after an unspecified illness, was 52.

Born Paul Christian Gordon in Newport, R.I., in 1963, Gordon played with the New Radicals in the late 1990s and played keyboards for the B-52s from 2007 until the time of his death. He had also been touring with Nettles up until recently.

Prior to joining the B-52s, Gordon was acting as keyboardist for the Goo Goo Dolls and playing guitar and keyboards with Lisa Marie Presley. According to the Newport Buzz, Gordon also worked with Natasha Bedingfield, Charles and Eddie, Prince, Danielle Brisebois, Carly Smithson, Nona Hendryx, Brenda K. Starr, Noel, Chaka Kahn, Mandy Moore, John Gregory, Eran DD, Wild Orchid, David Yazbek, Anna Wilson and more.

Additionally, Gordon wrote or co-wrote more than 1,000 pieces of music for film and TV. Among his compositions are the themes for Digimon and Wild Force Power Rangers, as well as many soundtrack pieces.

"Today we lost one of our precious own, Paul Gordon," Nettles writes on Instagram. "May your Journey be sweet. You will forever play on in our hearts."

Gordon is survived by his wife, Jennifer Lysak Gordon, and two sons.
