When the prison break happened at the Clinton County Correctional Facility back in 2015, I was totally immersed in the news. Even now, when anything that has to do with that story comes up, I find myself gathering all the information. Yesterday, one of the people at the center of the story was up for parole. Joyce Mitchell was arrested and charged with helping Richard Matt and David Sweat escape from prison. She gave the men tools and was supposed to be the driver of their getaway car the night of the escape. Even though she flaked out, she still was a major part of their escape and was arrested.

Joyce went in front of the board on Wednesday and was denied parole for the second time. She will now serve two more years of her sentence. A reason was not given for her denial but her attorney says that this has affected not only Joyce but her husband and son.

She will sit in Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women in Westchester County until 2019, the next time she is eligible for parole.
