Okra – What the Heck Is It?

I love okra! Do you know what it is? Have you ever even tried it?

As a kid I spent a lot of time in the south living in Florida and Alabama and as much as I love the food up here in the north there are just some things I miss that people won’t eat and cook up here. Okra is one. Its a vegetable that can be pickled, boiled, fried, chopped up and sauteed with a steak and much more. Check out some of these okra recipes.

Any okra lovers out there? How do prepare your okra. I personally like to pickle it with cider vinegar, a touch of dill weed and jalapeno peppers and let it sit for about 2 months. Delicious!
