Some people look great in jeans.  The may look old and dirty, but they're not.  Dirty jeans.  Hey, I wouldn't wear them.  I actually catch alot of grief at home for wearing them once and then throwing them in the wash.. But if you ask some people (teens, especially) , they may tell you something different.  And guess what?  They may not be wrong! But is it good hygene?  How long should you go between washes to be considered--healthy?  Well, you'd be surprised!

According to Newser.com:

A student in Canada wore his raw denim jeans for 15 months without washing them, then had the pants tested for bacteria at the University of Alberta. Results came back normal.  He wore the pants another two weeks, washed them, and returned for testing. Results were the same.

However, if you ask the student who was the guinea pig for this experiment, he did say that:

his pants did smell after the first few months, but nothing that putting them in a plastic bag and sticking them in the freezer didn't cure.

So if you don't mind having your kid go down to the basement, taking his jeans out of his new found closet, the  freezer, and have them stand up in the corner until they thaw, then, hell, think of the money you'll save on hot water,  detergent, and electricity?  Your kid will be probably awarded something by Obama for his contribution to the ecology.

And when he goes to Washington to accept the award, make sure he wears those jeans so we can see Obama's pained expression when he hands him the trophy ------peeeeeeeeeeeeeee-yewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
