Our thoughts are with a New York State Trooper and his family after State Police say one of their own was seriously injured this morning on his way to work in Fonda.

As of right now there aren't a lot of details, but anytime you see a story like this, your heart sinks.

According to News 10 ABC, here's what we do know so far:

A NYSP Trooper was stopped at red light on his way into work when he was rear-ended by another car, pushing his vehicle into oncoming traffic.

According to the report,  the incident took place as the trooper was pulling into work at the New York State Police Fonda Station at 3003 State Highway 5S, Fultonville, NY.

The injuries are said to be 'serious' and according to the tv station, he is being treated at Albany Medical Center.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, loved ones, colleagues and community.  We'll update with more information on his condition once we get any news.
