Adrian and Kristi Koppenhafer were on their way to Troy's Samaritan Hospital to have their second child on Saturday. They thought they could make it to the hospital, their new daughter didn't want to wait.

The Koppenhafers made it to Exit 24 ramp of the the thruway when they knew they weren't going to make it to the hospital. According to WNYT, Kristi told her husband to pull over so they could call an ambulance. With the help of two troopers and a blanket they had in the back of their car the Kopperhafers gave birth to their daughter Skyler Ann just after 5:30AM on Saturday.

Paramedics took the entire family, including their older daughter Hailey to the hospital where they weighed the new baby at 7 pounds, 4 ounces and 20 inches long. The parents commented that the whole time, their daughter Hailey was the calmest. She utilized the time to play PokemonGo, even recommending they name the new baby Bulbasaur like one of the characters.

Adrian has explained that in preparation for this pregnancy, they read books about the process and various stages of labor. Something tells me that giving birth on an off-ramp on the thruway was not in one of those books.
