We have a new feature on the Sean and Richie show. In the spirit of patriotism,  YOUR child can now lead us all in the Pledge Of Allegience through the magical use of simple technology -the cellphone!   Here's how

I have been very impressed with the quality of the audio recorded with the iPhone, believe it or not,  and I'm sure it's the same for any Android device.   With this simple guide, you can get decent results that we can use on the air.

 For iPhone

Step 1.  Find the Voice Memo app (comes with the phone)-  It's the one with the big microphone.  Usually found in the utilities folder.  If you can't find it. go to the home screen, swipe it to the right and type in "voice memos".

Here's what it look like.  Now take your subject (s) into a quiet area.  No doors slamming or talking around you.  The mic is pretty sensitive.   Stand him/her about 6 inches away from the edge of the phone where you talk into (the edge near the button) .

Have the subject do a test.  Say the first line of the pledge using their normal voice.  Try to keep the meter around this level.  NOT INTO THE RED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.   Adjust the volume either by moving the subject a little closer, having them talk louder, or adjusting  the volume by pushing the  (+) or (-) phone volume button on the upper left side.

When that's all to everyone's liking, hit the red button to the left of the meter and it will start recording.  When you want to stop, hit the black.  If you are recording and want to pause it, hit the red button again and it will pause, then you can continue by hitting the red pause icon.

When you are done, push the black button and you will see a list of your recordings.  It will show the time and length.  If you want to get fancy, you can trim the memo but not really necessary.  It would help if you could label the audio.  This  is optional but if you want to , push the little arrow at the right, above the SHARE button.  It will take you to this screen

Put the person's name in the line above and click "DONE".  You will then see it labeled, and at the bottom there will be a button to "SHARE" your recording.  You can then email it to Richie@wgna.com    In the subject line of the email please put the name of the person and school.

It looks complicated, but it really isn't at all. Then keep listening each morning right after the 6am news on 1077 'GNA.  I will try my hardest to shoot you an email as to what day it will air, but don't hold me to it as we get inundated with these.  I can at least tell you what WEEK it will be on.
