I always love when cities and towns get creative by showcasing what they are known for. The Business Improvement District of Albany is getting creative by using the famous Nipper the dog for a project called "Downtown Is Pawsome".When I lived in Buffalo, there were hundreds of sculptures of bison outside various business all uniquely decorated with a specific vision. It was nice to walk around the city and see how the artists displayed their work and love of the city.

I was happy to hear that, on a smaller scale, Albany is looking for ten artists, teams or community groups to create original artwork on three foot tall sculptures of Nipper that will be displayed in Tricentennial Park from June 2017 through May 2018. If you would like to download the application, you can do that here. It must be in by noon on May 3rd.

It got me thinking, if there were to be a sculpture that represented your city or town, what would it be? I am from Mechanicville so mine would probably be a mini caboose or train engine. That would be cool.
