It's hard not to like a guy like Nick Swisher. The guy has a great personality, he's funny and energenic and has a true love for the game of baseball. He also has a great heart and because of that he is being honored at this year's Thurman Munson Awards Dinner, acknowledging excellence in competition and philanthropic work within the community.

Swisher has his own foundation "Swish's Wishes" that helps children with life threatening illnesses. In 2009, Swish also helped out the Ronald McDonald house and helped raise money for breast cancer research.

Swisher has become my favorite player on the club and it warms my heart to see him recieve this honor! The benefit to be held next month in NYC benefits the AHRC of New York City. Also honored on this night are former NY Met catcher Mike Piazza and current Met Angel pagan among others.
