New York is reacting to more and more kids using flavored e-cigarettes.

According to a New York Post report, Governor Cuomo and his administration plan to make the flavored cigarettes illegal in the Empire State in 2019. The New York Health Department told the Post the number of youths using the flavored versions of e-cigarettes has risen "dramatically" and banning the flavored e-cigarettes is a necessary measure to curb nicotine addiction. The ban would not affect un-flavored e-cigarettes.

Apparently because of vaping the use of traditional cigarettes is way down, but the report says vaping has gone up dramatically among teens. The concern lies with exposure to such high levels of nicotine with e-cigarettes.

I am all for freedom of choice and hate more and more regulations (It feels like we have so many), but I do appreciate the motive for such regulations. But when all is said and done, will they actually keep kids from vaping? Maybe more education is the real key to enable kids to make better choices.

The New York Post says the ban will have a 60 day review and go into effect sometime in 2019.
