Needed Changes May Be Coming To Route 85 In Albany

If you have ever driven on Route 85 between Albany and Slingerlands, I think that you’ll agree that this highway needs some work.

There are plans in the works to reconstruct a section of Route 85 from the I-90 connection to the bridge over the New York State Thruway.

Some of the changes will be eliminating the curbs on the mainline, replacing the drainage system and several other improvements.

In the article that I read in the Times Union, there will be a public forum / meeting on Thursday evening, about the Route 85 project, at All Saints Academy in Albany. The meeting will let people discus their thoughts about the project. People will be able to see display boards of the planned changes about a half hour before the 6:00 p.m. start of the meeting. If approved, the construction will start next year and be finished in 2016.
