On Tuesday, NASCAR released Matt Kenseth’s penalty for his role in the wreck with Joey Logano on Sunday.

NASCAR officials suspended Matt Kenseth for 2 races and placed him on probation for six months. NASCAR did not dock Kenseth or Joe Gibbs Racing any points.

Joe Gibbs racing immediately released a statement that they would appeal this punishment.

"The appeal will challenge the severity of the penalty which is believed to be inconsistent with previous penalties for similar on-track incidents," the JGR statement read. "There will be no further comments from JGR personnel during the appeal process."

In an effort to expedite the process, NASCAR has announced they will hear Matt Kenseth's appeal for his two-race suspension on Thursday. The appeal will be heard by a three-person panel at 9 a.m. in North Carolina.

The wreck on Sunday left fans cheering and NASCAR officials fuming! I know it’s about safety on the track, but there was a time NASCAR rivalries is what made NASCAR so popular!
