My Boyfriend Proposed But I think He Is Still Married – Daily Dilemma [POLL]

The "Daily Dilemma" on the Sean and Richie Show is featured every weekday morning at 6:40am. We and the listeners take on someone's problems and try to offer different perspectives. Now, these don't have to be huge problems- it could just be something bothering you or a friend, or it could be some little thing you and another just can't agree on. Here is today's daily dilemma:

I’m hopelessly in love with my boyfriend of over 5 years. He was formerly married and has 3 beautiful daughters. He asked me to marry him last weekend. I was blown away. I never thought he would actually pop the question.

There’s only one slight “dilemma” here,(no pun intended). I distinctly remember him telling me a couple of years ago that he never technically got divorced. It was just a mutual decision between the two of them to split up. He’s a super guy and hates conflict, so I can see him doing this. When he told me back then how generous he was on the financial end, it made me love him even more. He’s the kindest soul I’ve ever known.

But it’s still in the back of my mind --is he free and clear or not?

Would he actually propose to me while he is still technically married?  If that is the case, I think I'd say no because I'd think he was crazy, and if he finalized a divorce with his ex, why would he not have told me? I don't know I just feel weird about it but I want very much to just say yes.
