Yesterday I attended my first Traversn and when Arrogate won the race, I was holding a winning ticket. At least I thought I was.

Let me start this off by saying I learned a valuable lesson at my first Travers Day today. And what an amazing day it was, until that heart sinking moment I had after I thought I had won some green.

After discussing some horses and doing a little research, I went and placed a $2 Exacta Box bet on the 1, 2, 7 and 8 horses. I was feeling good about that ticket in my hand. And when the race started, the #1, Arrogate, got the lead right out of the gate. And the #2 was right there the whole race.

And wouldn't ya know it,  down the stretch Arrogate runs away and the #2 holds on. I thought i was holding a $134 winning ticket. Not a ton of cash, but a nice little take for an inexperienced better.

Then I took the ticket out of my pocket and looked at it. Two, 4 7 and 8 were the horses I bet on. NO!!!!!!!!! I think when talking about ho much to pay for the ticket, $24, I said '2 and 4' instead of '1 and 2.' Uggh.

So, I actually learned two lessons today: Travers Day is a ton of fun, and always double check your bet after getting your ticket.
