And you say that you'd rather not see what's on your child's Facebook page?  You might want to rethink that after reading this!

According to a story at Newser.com a mother from Salt Lake City started to read her son's Facebook posts and saw this interesting one:  an alleged threat to shoot him at the West High School.

She quickly called police.  This also led to pictures on Instagram of guns planning to be used in the attack,  posted by the kids in question.

CAN SOMEBODY OUT THERE TELL ME WHAT THE H#$LL IS GOING ON IN THIS WORLD? (Yes, I'm yelling now!)

Actually, as I think about it ,  I'm very glad these kids WERE stupid enough to post their threats on social media.  At least there's concrete evidence against them!

I still submit that there are many, many positive reasons to use social media (and in an odd, perverse way this is one of them because we ended up diverting a disaster by being alert to what's being posted up there).

But not matter how you feel about it, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram are here to stay and we better all stay a little more vigilant.  Kudos to this mother!
