The Governor has announced significant funding to make more local farm foods accessible to Capital Region schools. Andrew Cuomo has announced that one million dollars in funding is now available for the grow farm-to school programs for all schools throughout the state. This will help school districts connect with local growers across the state which will make it easier for schools to serve local foods.

The grant funding for New York state school districts will include training programs for food service staff, purchase of equipment needed to help school kitchens and staff prepare the local food, support for the storage and transport of local food and hiring a local or regional farm to school coordinator.

In order to be eligible for the Farm-To-School Program, schools must register and apply for grants.

The deadline to apply is November 3, 2017 by 4pm.
