The word spread about an Amish farmer that allegedly requested a variance so he could run a puppy mill in Canajoharie.

His request was voted down after a vote by the town board to impose a moratorium for one year on any puppy mill operations.

In a story from Newschannel 13, The Canajoharie Town Hall held a meeting on Monday night, September 16, 2013, with many people voicing their opinions against having this kind of a business in their area. One person brought up the fact that people from the Albany area would not want to come to Canajoharie for any reason if the puppy mill was allowed. Most considered it to be animal cruelty.

Canajoharie is about 50 miles west of the Albany area.
