Momentive Performance Materials workers, who have been on strike since November, have agreed to a new contract.

The Times Union is reporting this evening that workers are expected back on the job Wednesday after accepting a new deal today. Workers originally went on strike late last year after the Waterford company proposed healthcare and retirement benefit cuts.

According to the Times Union article the union Vice President said the workers did not get everything they wanted, but that this deal was much better than the one they were initially presented.

While I guess it is good news the workers are getting back to work, the Times Union says there was "...little celebrating as many workers had felt they had no choice but to approve the contract or lose the support of elected officials and others who had supported them during the strike."
