Miranda Lambert Covers ‘Willin’ During Flame Tour Kickoff Weekend [Watch]
On Saturday night (May 14) in Indianapolis, Ind., Lambert decided to perform a cover of "Willin'," which was written by Little Feat and cut in 1970, later re-recorded by Linda Ronstadt in 1974. The song appeared on Ronstadt's fifth solo album Heart Like a Wheel. Lambert prefaced the performance by calling it "one of my favorite songs."
"I was going to save this song for later," she told the audience. "This is one of my favorite songs. I wish I had written it. It's an old one. It's called 'Willin.' My agent's here tonight and he's been with me for like 14 years, longer than that. It's one of his favorites."
Lambert then reminded the crowd that we all have to go somewhere, whether it's to get away from something or go do something amazing.
"You gotta be willing to do it, you gotta have the guts," she added. A poignant performance, Lambert sang the song on an acoustic guitar much to the approval of the audience.
"The crowd’s energy was just incredible," she said of the show in a press release. "I told them I could feel the rain making its way to the stage, but they didn’t leave. We were all soaked by the end of the night, but those nights are what I live for."
