In February 2013, I’ll be hosting one of the most exciting events of the year for Country Dancers. The Caribbean Country Dance Cruise featuring Nancy Hays, singer of ‘Come Dance With Me’ and ‘Get In Line,’ will set sail from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The week will feature Country Line and Couples Dance Lessons and Open Dancing, day and night, with some of the finest guest instructors in the nation.  There’s no better vacation for a dancer! Imagine non-stop food, live and recorded music, dance lessons and open dancing, and continuous fun, shows and sun for 7 days, you can literally ‘dance ’til you drop!’

Meet Guest Dance Instructor Christine Stewart from White Lake, Michigan

What is your favorite thing about cruising?

My favorite thing about cruising is that there is so much to do aboard the ship no matter what your interests are. I love the food choices and that it's always available and of course there's the shopping. My first line dance lesson was on a cruise many years ago.

How long have you been teaching Country Line Dancing and why do you
 like it?

I've been teaching Country line dancing for more than 7 years. It has become my passion and I've been able to make it my primary job teaching 9 classes a week. I believe Country Line dancing is good for the mind, body and soul and I love helping people have fun.

For people who have never line danced before, why should they try?

You should try country line dancing because it is so much fun. Dancing has been proven to be good for you in so many ways. Country line dancing helps you remember steps (mind), helps you exercise in a fun way (body) and helps with your general well being (soul). With just a few lessons you'll be on your way and wanting to learn more.

What are your favorite Country Dance Songs?

I have so many, but here are just a few of my favorite country songs to dance to. Pontoon (Little Big Town), Country as Can Be (Brady Seals), Love Done Gone (Billy Currington), You Can't Read my Mind (Toby Keith), Whiskey's Gone (Zac Brown Band), Woman (Mark Chesnutt) and of course Come Dance with Me (Nancy Hays).

Where is your favorite place to dance?

I teach in different places but my favorite place to dance is Friday nights at Wild Spurs, 5270 Perry Rd. in Grand Blanc, MI. DJ Dan Richards plays our favorite Country music for both line and pattern partner dancing.
