Another meet has ended at the Saratoga Race Course and another record has been set by a Mechanicville native. Being from Mechanicville, we couldn't be prouder of one of our own. Chad Brown has become one of the premier trainers in horse racing and it is amazing that he is from my small hometown of Mechanicville. We are such a tight knit community that my mom and Chad's mom, Patty, play bocce together. When the 2018 Saratoga racing season ended yesterday, Chad held a new and amazing record.

According to the TimesUnion.com, Saturday, Chad Brown broke the all-time record for wins by a trainer at the Saratoga meet with 43. Chad said that he feels the support, not only from the racing community, but the Capital Region and more specifically Mechanicville. He shared in the honor with his parents in his box that day. There is a rivalry with Todd Pletcher who had a disappointing showing at Saratoga this year with only 18 wins as of Saturday.

At the close of the Saratoga meet (Monday September 3rd) Chad finished with 46 wins. This total is more than the three trainers combined that finished below him. Chad Brown is still trying win the most coveted race at Saratoga, The Travers Stakes. Hopefully he will win that at next year's meet.
