Just a typical Wednesday in the neighborhood, right? The birds are chirping, the sun is shining, the police SWAT team is storming the house down the street. Wait...huh?

Rafael Gonzalez, a 24 year old wanted parolee was taken into custody earlier today after a stand off in which tear gas and flash grenades were fired into a James Street home. This is what happens when hours of negotiations don't pan out.

Two other people, a man and a woman were also removed from the home and detained for questioning shortly after 11am.

Gonzalez was wanted by the US Marshalls for a parole violation which led Marshalls and the Schenectady Police to the residence at 6am to serve the parolee with a warrant. At this time a stand off began, with Lt. Mark McCracken trying to talk to Gonzalez via bullhorn and eventually turning it over to a female detective who spoke to him in Spanish. According to the Lieutenant he never responded to negotiators.
