We're told that the security cameras are in place for our safety. Now, we're learning about a network of cameras doing a little bit more than watching us.

If you're the type of person who doesn't like your location registered then I have some bad news for you. When it comes to those surveillance cameras, they're not just taking note of the people speeding through or being used in case of crime.

The Post Star is reporting that there are small cameras set up that have played a part in solved some criminal investigations. The devices, apparently, not only photograph license plates but log the plate of each passing vehicle. They are a part of a network of cameras around the region operated by police departments used to find stolen vehicles or even missing people. The hope is that these plates will create a database to make is easier to search for plates. Does this database bother you or do you like the fact that it exists?
